So you have bought for yourself a toddler car bed, now what’s next? Your next job is to try and keep the room safe for your toddler to sleep and play in. Toddlers are always on the move. It’s your job as a parent to keep your toddler safe, and no matter how hard you may try, it’s nearly impossible to watch over him all of the time. For this reason, it’s important to ensure that areas he spends his time, such as his bedroom, are safe. Properly toddler-proofing his bedroom will make sure your child can play, and you won’t have to worry.
Check the car toddler bed for safety. If you have neglected this part when you were purchasing the item, I suggest you go over a few tips that I can share. Make sure the mattress fits snug against the sides of the childs bed, and the sheets are tight on the mattress. Check to ensure there are no gaps larger than 2 inches between the slats or anywhere in the bed so your toddler does not get her head stuck. Install a safety bed rail to the side of the childs bed in order to avoid the risk of the child rolling off while asleep.
Place the car toddler bed away from windows. This will prevent your toddler from using the bed to climb out the window, or from getting entangled in blinds, cords or curtains. Be sure all cords from blinds and window treatments are up and away from toddler’s reach. Check to ensure no loose wires are strung across the room. All wires should secure. Install plug covers into every electrical outlet in your toddler’s bedroom.
Secure all heavy furniture, including dressers and bookcases, to the wall. Use angle brackets or anchors that screw into the back of the furniture, as well as the wall. Use night lights that have a cover over the entire bulb. This will prevent possible burns from a hot bulb. Add a door safety stopper so that the door cannot close fully and toddler’s fingers or hands cannot get pinched in the bedroom door or door hinges.
